I want to be a chef but I need some common food knowledge.?
I know that I will learn these things in Culinary School BUT I do not want to enter Culinary school absolutely knowing NOTHING. I want to know some things so I can impress. I want to know ALL my herbs and spices, and all the condiments and sauces (not just typical like ketchup and mustard) I need to know all the ways to use a knife and all types of cooking methods. I really am passionate about cooking, and I feel like I got the basic cooking down but I am a sponge for Culinary knowledge.
I usually watch cooking shows and they say all type of spices and herbs and vegetables that I have NEVER heard before. Any books or sites for me to learn these things and get caught up like a pro? Like Culinary Arts for Dummies or something?
